FCP Launches Collaborative Webs

Family Connection Partnership launched Collaborative Webs at the Family Connection Winter Training Event on Feb. 20 at the Wyndham Atlanta-Downtown hotel. Collaborative Webs offer Family Connection collaboratives the opportunity to promote their work, share information, and communicate with others via the Internet.

This free service provided by Family Connection Partnership includes:

  • Web site hosting on the Family Connection Partnership server
  • A unique Web site for each Family Connection collaborative
  • Standard Web address (URL)
  • A user-friendly Site Manager that allows collaborative staff to add, modify and delete Web content without formal Web development training

Benefits

Collaborative Webs offer an economical solution to promoting the work of collaboratives and sharing information. With Collaborative Webs, you can:

  • Build and manage a Web site without purchasing software or paying annual hosting fees. All you need is a computer, Internet connection, and Internet Explorer browser.
  • Promote the work and best practices of Family Connection. Extend your reach globally—from Georgia to international locations—with your Web site.
  • Streamline information distribution with a central location for accessing resources. Link partners to your collaborative news, success stories, events, and publications.

Three Ways to Implement Collaborative Webs
Collaborative Webs are available to each Family Connection collaborative and may be implemented in one of three ways:

Attend Regional Training Hosted by FCP:
Coordinators—or someone designated by the coordinator—may attend the free training in their region. Participants will learn how to manage contact information, add content, documents, and images, schedule calendar events, use utilities, and activate their Web site. Each participant will receive printed documentation, including a User Guide, Quick State Guide, Resource Disk, and Fact Sheet.

To register:
1. Participants must complete the online registration at http://regonline.com/90150.
2. Coordinators must read and submit the Acceptable Use Policy. Instructions and login will be provided to the coordinator.
3. If someone other than the coordinator will manage your Collaborative Web's content, the coordinator must forward the login information to that person.

OR

Do-It-Yourself Implementation:
Training is not mandatory. If you want to do it yourself, the collaborative coordinator must:
1. Send e-mail to webs@gafcp.org requesting the login information
2. Read and submit the Acceptable Use Policy. Instructions and login information will be     provided to the coordinator.
3. Access the online training material at:     http://www.gafcp.org/CollabWebs/websoverview.htm
Printed documentation will be sent to the coordinator at the conclusion of the regional     training.

OR

Attend Atlanta Training:
If you missed the training in your region, FCP will host a training session in Atlanta on May 24, if needed. To register for this training, the collaborative coordinator must:
1. RSVP by May 15 to webs@gafcp.org with the following information:
    - Your Name
    - Participant name
    - Collaborative name
2. Read and submit the Acceptable Use Policy.
3. If someone other than the coordinator will manage your Collaborative Web's content,     the coordinator must forward the login information to that person.
