Wayne County FC Holds Strategic Plan Signing Celebration

The Wayne County Family Connection recently held a three-year strategic plan signing celebration at Wayne County High School. Nearly 65 community members helped develop portions of the plan, with 44 of them attending the celebration.

Each committee chairperson gave a brief overview of the group's work and recognized committee members. Mayor Herb Shaw presented a proclamation declaring March 24, 2003, as "Wayne County Family Connection Day." The local newspaper, The Press Sentinel, covered the event. A local caterer provided refreshments.

The celebration included presentations on the collaborative's vision, mission, goals and strategies, as well as results of a recent community survey. The collaborative also distributed a list of ways citizens can help with local efforts and phone numbers to call for more information. The collaborative also unveiled its new letterhead, featuring a list of its Board of Directors.

Lou Caputo, Region 9 Community Facilitator for Family Connection Partnership, served as keynote speaker.

"Our collaborative is so fortunate to have such a multi-talented resource person to answer our calls for help and encouragement," said Claudia Smith, Wayne County Coordinator. "He has been so helpful and has made such an impression on our collaborative members. During the past month, there have been many committee meetings that have been kept on tract by his confident, good-natured, patient, and soft-spoken guidance. Lou has gone the extra mile to make sure we develop the best possible plan for our community."
