Family Connection Partnership News Briefs

Editor's Note: The staff of Family Connection Partnership is pleased to share the following organizational news. For more information call (404) 527-7394.

From the Community Support team:

  • Mark your calendars now for the next Family Connection Winter Training Event for Family Connection collaboratives on Feb. 21, 2005. The Community Support team welcomes county collaborative input to help plan the annual event. Family Connection Day will follow the training event on Feb. 22.

From the Public Affairs and Policy team:

  • The Public Affairs and Policy team is preparing to launch new national KIDS COUNT data on June 3. The theme of the national release is Moving Youth from Risk to Opportunity. Georgia First Lady Mary Perdue recently supported efforts to present a Georgia perspective on the data by recording audio sound bites focusing on Georgia data. Radio stations from across the state can access the recordings on June 3 for their local stories. FCP will distribute more information from a Georgia perspective in July to include various efforts, such as Comprehensive Youth Development System, School-to-Work and other youth efforts, adult literacy, and local Family Connection collaborative work.

  • The 2005 Family Connection Conference is on the radar. The Public Affairs and Policy team is sending Requests for Proposals to sites to receive bids on locations for the 8th biennial conference. Staff will conduct pre-site visits this summer to have the conference location established by the end of August. Planning will begin this fall.

From the Evaluation team:

The Evaluation team is planning an evaluation training series for Family Connection collaboratives this summer. More details will follow soon.
