Stop It Now! Georgia
Community Orientations

Stop It Now! Georgia, a program of Prevent Child Abuse Georgia, has rolled out its local community campaign to prevent child sexual abuse and has scheduled two Community Orientation sessions. As local resources for families, collaboratives can be invaluable in helping to implement the Stop It Now! Georgia philosophy of adult and community responsibility.

On Wednesday, June 14, at 10 a.m., the DeKalb Task Force for Runaway, Homeless and Sexually Exploited Youth will host a Stop It Now! Georgia Community Orientation at 1950 West Exchange Place in Tucker.

Cobb Community Collaborative will host a second Community Orientation on Thursday, June 22, at 1 p.m., at the YWCA of Northwest Georgia, 48 Henderson Street in Marietta.

At both orientations, Stop It Now! Georgia will review the strengths and challenges of prevention, and discuss how to use the public health approach to address child sexual abuse. The Program will review existing community resources that offer prevention and awareness, and begin work on a plan to promote existing resources and address gaps in the protection of children.

Stop It Now! Georgia training, materials, and technical assistance are free.

Following the orientation, Stop It Now! Georgia will schedule training on the use of specific tools to address the prevention of child sexual abuse, and the program has developed educational workshops and materials that can be incorporated into current community outreach efforts.

To reserve a space at the Community Orientation, or for more information, call Anna Curtis at Prevent Child Abuse Georgia, 404-870-6561 or e-mail her at annac@pcageorgia.org.
