FCP to Host Prevention Learning Institute

Mark your calendars now for the second in a series of Learning Institutes on prevention hosted by Family Connection Partnership in August. "Prevention Redefined: Developing Strategies to Create Safe and Health Communities" is a four-hour workshop to be held at several sites across the state. County collaborative chairs and coordinators are invited to attend, as well as human services agency staff and regional and state partners.

An interdisciplinary, cross-agency state team representing the Department of Family and Children Services, Mental Health, Public Health, and Family Connection Partnership has designed the workshop. Learn how to:

  • Transform and enrich our approaches to helping people and building communities within a framework free of symptoms, remediation and reactivity.

  • Emphasize strategy development founded on a prevention orientation aimed at realizing tangible and positive results in our families, classrooms, workplace, churches, neighborhoods, and wherever people gather to make decisions that affect the lives of others.

Attendance at the first workshop held last January is not required in order to attend this Learning Institute.

Learning Objectives
Participants will focus on creating conditions of community well-being by:

  • Identifying key elements of building effective prevention capacity.
  • Using tools for assessing and promoting community prevention readiness.
  • Identifying key components of an effective prevention strategy.
  • Using integrated planning and evaluation that targets strategy outcomes.
