Glynn County among Finalists for Best Childhood Initiatives

The Glynn County Commission on Children and Youth has been selected among the finalists to receive an award for the best models of early childhood initiatives across the U.S. The collaborative was selected from more than 100 early childhood programs and partnerships that were nominated from across the country.

The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation awarded the Center for the Study of Social Policy a two-year grant in December 2001 to explore ways to incorporate child abuse and neglect prevention into early care and education settings. Glynn County was one of the recipients of the funding.

The collaborative will now be included among a national network of model programs. The national awards ceremony will be held Oct. 14 - 15 in Miami.

Saundra Hathaway is the Family Connection coordinator.
