Coordinator, Fund for Rural Georgia
The Southern
Rural Development Initiative, located in North Carolina, is seeking a
Project Coordinator for the Fund for Rural Georgia, a new public/private
partnership that supports rural community-based development in Georgia.
This is a flexible position. Until the Fund for Rural Georgia is formally
organized, the Coordinator will be an employee/contractor of the Southern

Director,
Atlanta Community Learning Collaborative
The Annenberg
Foundation is seeking a Director to lead the Atlanta Community Learning
Collaborative (ACLC), a comprehensive education reform/community revitalization
effort in the Mechanicsville neighborhood. The Foundation funds the position,
and the Atlanta office of the Enterprise Foundation manages it. The Director
will help further develop the vision and manage the work for the ACLC
project and must be able to work collaboratively with all internal and
external partners of the project.

Helps Seniors Apply for Drug Assistance Programs
GeorgiaCares, sponsored by the Georgia Department of Human Resources,
educates and helps seniors apply for all available low cost prescription
drug assistance programs. Trained volunteer counselors help Medicare beneficiaries
sort through the complexities of Medicare and related health insurance
concerns. GeorgiaCares provides information on low-cost prescription assistance
programs, health insurance, managed care, comparing and evaluating health
insurance and managed care plans, and more. For more information, see

Governor's
Council on Developmental Disabilities Seeks Ex-officio Members
The
Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities is accepting applications
from individuals with developmental disabilities and family members wishing
to become ex-officio members. Ex-officio members have the same rights
and privileges as full Council members except they are not appointed by
the governor and cannot vote on policy issues.
Ex-officio
members serve as the link between people with developmental disabilities,
their families and the organization. After having served a two-year term,
ex-officio members are recommended to the governor to serve as full Council
members as openings became available. Individual responsibilities include:
- Participate
in all discussions of committees and full Council but do not have voting
privilege.
- Attend
all board and committee meetings and functions, such as special events.
- Be informed
about the organization's mission, services, policies, and programs.
- Review
agenda and supporting materials prior to Council and committee meetings.
- Serve
on at least one standing committee and offer to take on special assignments.
- Inform
others about the organization.
- Keep
up-to-date on developments in the disability movement.
- Follow
conflict of interest policies.
- Assist
the board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities, such as reviewing
the organization's annual financial statements.

Map Book
of Rural Populations and Health Care Providers Available
A new collection of maps from the North Carolina Rural Health Research
Center provides a graphical overview of the distribution of U.S. rural
populations, their access to health care resources and federal programs,
and their health status. Included are county-level maps that highlight
rural health issues. The collection is divided into four major categories:
rural demographics, rural health care resources, rural health status,
and rural health care programs and policies. A print copy of the publication

Partners
in Policymaking Accepting Applications
Partners in Policymaking is an innovative leadership training opportunity
that involves and empowers people with developmental disabilities, parents
of young children with disabilities, and other family members.
Thirty-five
people will be selected to participate in the 12th Partners class in Georgia.
If selected, Partners will attend eight two-day training sessions on weekends
