Plain Talk Training Institute
Provided by the Annie E. Casey Foundation
2005 Georgia Public Health Association Pre-Conference Event
Savannah, Ga.
Sept. 13

The Georgia Plain Talk Institute is a four hour pre-conference session in which you will discover how the Annie E. Casey Foundation helps parents and other adults learn to "Plain Talk" with adolescents.

The initiative's core strategies are:

  • To provide parents and other community adults with accurate information and communication skills they need to communicate more effectively with teens.
  • To change the message parents and other supportive adults provide sexually active adolescents by creating consensus about responsible sexual behaviors.
  • To improve adolescents' access to quality and age-appropriate reproductive health care.

The Institute discusses the evaluation outcome highlights, examines the core elements of the Plain Talk model, and identifies conditions for successfully replicating the program.
