RSM Project Taps into Libraries, Recreational Centers Spreading Word about Healthcare

The Right from the Start Medicaid Outreach Project (RSM) focused its fourth-quarter efforts on reaching teachers and parents through summer reading programs at public libraries across the state. According to an article in the organization's recent newsletter, RSM eligibility specialists visited more than 30 libraries across Georgia, including Clayton, Paulding, Bibb, Houston, Muscogee and Gwinnett counties. Specialists distributed information to area teachers and parents about health care for children and families.

"Many RSM teams sent letters to their school districts asking permission to mail letters to parents of the Pre-K and Head Start students in their area," the article said. "The Muscogee Team got out 13,000 letters. Most teams set up display tables at Pre-K and Headstart registration tables."

RSM's fourth-quarter goals included reaching parents of children involved in summer sports and parents in the Hispanic community. The article reports that RSM staff visited more than 30 recreational facilities and participated in two major Hispanic events, including a Latin Resource Fair and the Dia de la Mujer Latina health festival.
