FCP: Communicating, Replicating and Planning State-level Initiatives

The Technical Assistance team of Family Connection Partnership has been actively supporting statewide collaborative efforts throughout Georgia. From Jan. 1 to Sept. 30 of this year, the team made 196 visits to counties to deliver training, technical assistance and support. Statewide trainings include six Evaluation Learning Institutes in August and September, where nearly 260 community representatives attended.

The team also has provided support to the following agencies:

  • Office of School Readiness. FCP delivered five training sessions to pre-kindergarten staff.
  • Department of Education. FCP delivered four trainings at four conference sites and at four school sites for Georgia READS, a school readiness and family literacy initiative.
  • School to Work. FCP staff members made conference presentations.
  • Department of Family and Children's Services (DFCS). In partnership with DFCS, FCP manages the Community Partnerships for the Protection of Children Initiative and supports the nutrition education program.
  • Governor's Office of Developmental Disabilities. FCP supports outreach on family involvement for special needs children and their families.
  • Governor's Office of Planning and Budget. FCP provided staff support to the Governor's Action Group for Safe Children, an interagency working group designed to assure that state agencies and local officials take steps to coordinate efforts to help Georgia's most vulnerable children and families. Its charge was to review and assess the current child placement system, make recommendations on this placement system, and develop a state plan for safe child placements.
  • Division of Public Health. FCP is rebuilding partnership opportunities with the Division with the support of tobacco funding.
  • Department of Juvenile Justice. FCP supports the eight pilot counties working in the area of balanced and restorative justice and supports counties using Targeted Case Management for juvenile detention alternative strategies.
  • Children and Youth Coordinating Council. As a state partner, FCP works to improve outcomes for youth by supporting and promoting youth development efforts and strategies in counties statewide.

FCP is committed to providing the highest quality community support to Family Connection collaboratives statewide. FCP recognizes the importance of involving communities and families in achieving our work, values community experience and expertise, and promotes the use of best practices and the importance of sharing community successes statewide.
