Raise Money for a Cure:
Train to Walk, Run, Tri or Skate to Benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

"Leukemia is one of the leading diseases contributing to the death of children under 15 years of age. And over the past 25 years, lymphoma has been the third fastest rising cancer in the country. Even more devastating is the fact that blood-related cancers - including leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and Hodgkin's disease - affect more than 640,00 Americans."
- Team in Training brochure, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Georgia Chapter

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Georgia Chapter, is offering Team in Training, a four-to-five month endurance training program for novices and seasoned athletes. Trainings are currently scheduled for the Atlanta area, Athens, Augusta and Peachtree City. You pick your event destination below, and the Society picks up your air travel, accommodations, race registration and entry fees, plus pre- and post-race parties.

Destinations:

  • Country Music Marathon & Half Marathon, Nashville, Tenn., April 26, 2003.

  • Big Sur Marathon, Monterey, Calif., April 27, 2003.

  • St. Anthony's Triathlon, St. Petersburg, Fla., April 27, 2003.

  • Gulf Coast Half Ironman, Panama City, Fla., May 10, 2003.

  • Walt Disney World Inline Marathon, Orlando, Fla., March 30.

During your training, you'll be matched with a local leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma survivor as your team honoree. Through this team effort, you'll help raise money for a cure.

The integrated training program includes:

  • Coaching from experienced and certified coaches.
  • Daily training schedules.
  • Weekend group workouts.
  • Clinics on form and technique, nutrition, equipment, injury prevention, and race strategy.

After completing your training, the Society will fly you and your teammates to your event destination. At least 75 percent of the funds raised will go directly to researchers and patients.
