Evaluation Assistant Needed for Early Learning Initiative

Family Connection Partnership announces a vacancy for the position of an evaluation assistant for its South Georgia EXCEL (Excellence in Childcare and Early Learning) initiative in Coffee, Crisp, Mitchell, and Turner counties. This is a part-time temporary position (funded by a federal grant) running through February 2004.

The purpose of the EXCEL initiative is to develop a community-based system of collaborative service delivery that will result in increasing early learning opportunities, enhancing family literacy skills, reducing barriers to access, and improving children's learning readiness.

Elements of the service delivery model include: home visitation with parents and unlicensed childcare providers, group meetings, parent-child interaction at social and learning events, development of voluntary literacy programs, and linkages to existing services and supports, particularly focusing on families with special needs.

Responsibilities

The evaluation assistant for EXCEL provides administrative support to the project director and project evaluator for the management of program implementation and results. Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the four counties on data collection and coding data, as needed.
  • Updating program records.
  • Maintaining control group data.
  • Working under the supervision of the project evaluator for data analysis.

The evaluation assistant also will provide technical support to the four counties by maintaining the Client Tracking System and the Program Reporting Database, and will prepare analyses of program results for federal, state and community reports.

Skills, Experience and Knowledge

Required computer skills include Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Field research experience and knowledge of basic statistics is a plus.

Working Hours

Part-time hours are flexible but will total 12 hours per week. The evaluation assistant will work from the Partnership's office at 235 Peachtree Street, North Tower, Suite 1600, in Atlanta.

Application Deadline

E-mail your letter of interest and resume by Nov. 8 to: Julie Sharpe, project director, at jksharpe@friendlycity.net and Laurie Dopkins, project evaluator, at dopkins@bellsouth.net.
