DHR Board Seeks Public Input at Transition Hearings The Board of the Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) is seeking public input during the agency's change in leadership and is holding a series of hearings around the state through December. People who have been served by the agency and child and family advocates statewide are encouraged to attend. DHR's proposed budget submitted to Gov. Sonny Perdue for the remainder of FY04 and FY05 is not the focus of these hearings. Rather, they are an opportunity for dialogue with DHR's new leadership on ideas and solutions to improve services and meet citizens' needs. These hearings also can be an opportunity to describe the multi-dimensional challenges facing adolescents at risk of pregnancy and share successful strategies undertaken in your community.
Comments must be very brief. If you wish to speak at a hearing, you will
be given up to five minutes. Advance registration is required, including
your name, the issue to be presented, and the recommended solutions. Speakers
may register up on the Web at www.dhr.georgia.gov
and click on the transition hearings sign up link at http://167.193.144.229/ocs/Hearings/signup.asp
or by phone at (404) 463-6006. You can register to speak at only one hearing
but can attend as many hearings as you wish.
