Ben Hill County
Twenty collaborative partners received a $10,000 team grant to establish Education GO Get It centers at locations throughout the county. The funding is primarily for GO Center Kits and materials needed to operate the centers. Funding will also support promotional material, advertising and incentives.

Ben Hill, Irwin, Turner, Wilcox and Worth counties
Ben Hill, Irwin, Turner, Wilcox and Worth Counties combined received a grant for a multi-county dental clinic to provide services to children and adults who have no dental insurance. Counties will provide transportation and make appointments on specified days. Local dentists will rotate their schedules and donate their services. The dental office will have a full-time dental hygienist on days the clinic operates, who also will travel to the partnering counties to provide dental health education at several venues.

Berrien and Turner counties
The Turner County Board of Education received a Safe Schools/Healthy Students federal grant though the Department of Education for Berrien and Turner counties. The two counties have partnered to implement the South Georgia Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative. The initiative will receive $955,400 each year for three years, from Oct. 1, 2005 to Sept. 30, 2008. The funding will help provide programs, services and activities at all schools in both counties, along with additional programs and services for children, ages 0 to 4, and their families.

Camden County
Camden Children's Alliance & Resources Inc., the county's authorized planning agency for families and children, received a $100,000 Drug-Free Communities Support Program grant from the Substance Abuse Prevention and Mental Health Administration and the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

Oconee County
The Oconee Area Resource Council received a Drug-Free Communities grant from the Substance Abuse Prevention and Mental Health Administration and the Office of National Drug Control Policy. The funding provides grants of up to $500,000 over five years to community organizations that serve as catalysts for citizen participation in local drug prevention efforts. The funding will support a community assessment, strategic planning, collaborative development, and evaluation. Georgia Council on Substance Abuse is the fiscal agent for the grant.
