A community working together for all children to succeed in school and in life. In Athens, Family Connection and Communities In Schools are the same organization. We are a partnership of ninety organizations working with families to research the needs of children and families in our community, and to work together to address those needs. Athens-Clarke County Family Connection Partnership is the official planning and coordinating body for services for children and families in our community.

Stadion Athens Classic at UGA-Tickets FORE Charity
The University of Georgia, Stadion Money Management and The PGA Tour are partnering to bring the Nationwide Tour to Athens in 2010.  The tournament will be played April 29-May 2, 2010 at The University of Georgia golf course.

Education Matters Weekly radio show by CCSD
Weekly radio show called “Education Matters."
   
AT&T Graduation Project
Rick Dunn continues to do great work. In addition to much else, he is working directly with 82 students, 42 from last year, 30 additional from the fall, and more added this semester. The data shows dramatic improvement in the numbers who are nearly ready or ready for graduation.  
   
The Cottage (Sexual Assault Center/Child Advocacy Center)
The Cottage served approximately 200 children and their families and 100 adults last year.
   
Teen Pregnancy Prevention Task Force
Numbers have been very positive from the Teen Matters clinics.
   
Wellness Council
The Athens Community Wellness Council is now the Northeast Georgia Wellness Council.
   
FC/CIS Annual Meeting
In a crowded meeting room at the new Rutland Psychoeducational Center, partners and community members attended our annual meeting, where they were inspired by the speakers, elected new Board Members, and left with the challenge of continuing their good work.
   
Early Learning results
Dr. Stacy Neuharth-Pritchett (UGA) presented data on outcomes from Clarke County School District Office of Early Learning programs at a recent meeting of the Early Care & Education Team.
   
Annual Meeting 2010

Nearly 60 community partners attended our Annual Meeting and heard inspiring words.

   
PLC Student Honored at the Georgia Capitol
Classic City PLC student and FC/CIS Board Member, Deylah McCarty, received an award for her entrty in the annual CIS Student Achievement Month Contest. 
   
AT&T Gives $400,000 grant!
AT&T has approved $100,000 per year for four years to increase graduation rates in Clarke County by helping connect community resources through high school graduation coaches.
   
YouthBuild Program Being Developed
We are coordinating a group that will apply for funds to establish YouthBuild in Athens. Participating young adults (16-24) will attend classes in the morning (GED or high schoo, plus construction skills) and build low income housing in the afternoon.
   
Athens Is Now a Certified Literate Community
Thanks to the efforts of the Athens-Clarke County Literacy Council, the State of Georgia has recognized it as a Certified Literate Community.
