Expectations
Since
1993, the Family Connection initiative has focused on achieving
a vision of positive outcomes for all of Georgia's children in five
areas: healthy children, children ready for school, children succeeding
in school, strong and stable families, and self-sufficient families.
To achieve this vision required developing a results accountability
framework and establishing community collaboratives.
The
collaboratives are responsible for implementing the framework. Local
leaders come together to make decisions about what results are desired,
set priorities to achieve results, allocate resources and hold themselves
accountable for the well-being of children and families in their
community. This process results in a strategic plan.
Evaluation
is the primary tool used to ensure that collaboratives are making
progress toward the goal areas identified in their strategic plan.
Since its inception Family Connection has promoted a participatory
approach to evaluation, emphasizing the utilization of findings
to inform planning, policy and practices.
Family
Connection Partnership seeks to maintain focus on implementing and
reporting well-planned evaluations. The two leading questions are:
- Were
local collaboratives able to implement their annual operating
plans?
- What
difference, if any, did it make for children, families, and/or
their community?
