Rep. Jason Shaw (R-Dist. 176) reads to a first-grade class during Literacy Week, this month.

According to Amy Lollis, Lanier County Family Connection coordinator, 48 community volunteers read to pre-k through fourth-grade classes at this year’s event. This is the third year Lanier County Family Connection has partnered with Certified Literate Community Program to organize Literacy Week.

“This is an event the community looks forward to each year,” said Amy Lollis, Lanier County Family Connection coordinator.
