Casey Foundation Merges Latest Research and Best Practices for Improving Areas of Child Well-Being

The Annie E. Casey Foundation recently incorporated the latest version of the KIDS COUNT Indicator Briefs, updated in 2009, into one publication. These briefs contain information on the latest research and best practices for improving the areas of child well-being tracked by each of the 10 key KIDS COUNT indicators.

  • Preventing Low Birthweight
  • Reducing Infant Mortality
  • Reducing the Child Death Rate
  • Reducing the Teen Death Rate
  • Reducing the Teen Birth Rate
  • Reducing the High School Dropout Rate
  • Reducing the Number of Disconnected Youth
  • Increasing the Number of Children Whose Parents have Stable Employment
  • Reducing the Child Poverty Rate
  • Increasing the Percentage of Children Living in Two-Parent Families


The 2009 Indicator Briefs also are available online at the KIDS COUNT Data Center.

Each brief leads with an overview, then follows up with with promising strategies essential to improving the indicator, and links to additional resources.
