What works for children and families, and communities Evidence-based program information and additional research from the Promising Practices Network |
The decisions we make today affect the growth and vitality of Georgia's children and communities tomorrow.
We don't need more research to tell us that increasing poverty, the high school drop-out rate, teen pregnancies and low birthweight are detrimental to Georgia’s future. What we need is to utilize research and reliable data to inform public debate, to help policymakers understand that it is in every one of their constituent’s best interest to reverse these trends, and to direct our efforts to improve conditions for children and families.
The 2008 Georgia KIDS COUNT Tour--a series of community forums across the state beginning in August--will increase your ability to make decisions in the best interest of children by accessing and working with accurate, timely, and comprehensive information about the condition of children and families in your own community. Georgia Family Connection Partnership (GaFCP) will release the 2008 Georgia KIDS COUNT Data Book during the Tour, share the data book's findings, and share positive initiatives, urging action to reverse negative trends for Georgia's children. Georgia Budget and Policy Institute (GBPI) and county collaborative organizations will team up with GaFCP at the nine locations to help raises public awareness and accountability for the condition of kids and families.
Come to the Tour to:Georgia Family Connection county collaboratives, child advocates, business organizations, concerned citizens, direct service providers, educators, elected officials and candidates, faith community, government officials, human services organizations, legislators, policymakers, regional field officers, and concerned citizens.
