Infant Mortality is an indicator of the overall health status of women and children. In 2004, the infant mortality rate was 8.5 per 1,000:

  • 14 per 1,000 black infants died
  • 7 per 1,000 white infants died
  • 3 per 1,000 Hispanic infants died

The child death rate has improved from 32.3 per 100,000 in 1994 to 22.7 per 100,000 in 2004.
